Photos 1 and 2 show some archeological finds:

1.Lamanai

At the well-preserved ruins of Lamanai this huge mask-like carving dominated the front of a tall building.

2. Tool

At another location, where Dr. Walling has excavated many tumbled-down stone structures, he showed us this kitchen tool for grinding grain. It is being held by Dr. Wandalyn Enix, a professor of education who was part of our group. Next to her is my friend from Georgia, Pat Detamore, who edited our website materials and wrote the introductory material on the first page.

3.Melonbus

4.Karen.Marc

Photos 3 and 4 show some of our group in the small bus we used to get around to different archeological sites. On a hot day it was great to have a big, juicy, sweet watermelon to snack on. Here we see Karen Duvel, Marc Chioda, and Joe Komarek, all trying to keep the juice and seeds outside the bus!

Photos 5 through 11 show a variety of organisms we found on our daytime explorations:

5.Cupfungus

Photo 5- The pink cup-shaped fungi are decomposers of wood, so we found them growing on old logs.
