The following photos are selections from our teachers’ trip to Belize. There are other photos on the website at www.csam.montclair.edu/ceterms/belize.
We got up early most days and spent part our time exploring Mayan ruins, at Lamanai and other sites, guided by archeologist Dr. Stan Walling, whose research area is near the Chan Chich Lodge. When we weren’t exploring ancient buildings, we spent most of the remaining time in the forest around the Lodge observing wildlife and plants. I and my husband, Greg Willis, served as the forest guides since our research specialty is tropical forest ecology. Some days we were out in the forest during the day and then again after dinner. We went looking for nocturnal animals such as kinkajous and frogs.
